Jungle trip in Palenque: Hot and wet...
...but marvellouse colors, plants, animals. Just unbelievable for Swiss Alpöhis.
A panorama view of the palenque ruins. They were found around 1800 nearly by accident. Some expeditions stumbled over a couple of stones in the jungle. Digging around they found a big and in earlier days important Maya site. The buildings in Palenque had the first self-carring stone roofs of whole America. This is one of the reasons why the Mayas are seen as a very high developed culture.
Tired of the bathing in Aqua Azul?
Our big sand-toilet with two Maya-pyramids in front. This has a double meaning: First it makes you more happy to go to the toilet because you can walk in between of two pyramids and therefore feel very important. Second it gives you a rather save and comfortable feeling sitting on the toilet because you are protected by two pyramids. And please blame Fiffan for this toilet-philosophy ;-)
Nice look inside the tent. The sand just blew through even when everything was closed. Well, one disadvantage of our famouse beach campsite.
Well, if you find me a more beautiful camp site...?
Hang loose...
Hang loose 2...
This was my view when I got up in the morning...
We also had a "ugly" day at the beach, if you can call this bad weather. I would rather call it nice conditions because you did not boil yourself walking around.
Last but not least: The result of four weeks travelling...
